Katarina Krpez Slezak: ,,My wish was to the end my career there..."
Handball? Érd? 33? Rostov? Anna Vjahireva? Who she would play with? Family and handball? What she would do the end of her career? - I asked Katarina Krpez Slezak. :)
1. How did you get close to the handball? How many years old have you been playing sports?
Since I was little, I loved every sport, especially with the ball… and I trained a lot of sports and the last one I chose was handball. I started at 14 years old. It was not love at first sight, but I fell in love with it very quickly, I made a lot of friends, handball taught me a lot of things and I am happy that I made the right decision to train handball.
2. How can you reconcile your family life with handball?
It is not easy when I travel a lot because I miss my family, but I have a lot of support and help from my husband, so everything is easier.
3. 33 is your jersey number. Does it mean anything?
When I started playing for the senior national team I got number 3 and that is my favourite number and my whole career I wore that number in the national team… but in clubs that number was often busy and then I decided to add another three and since then it is my second favourite number became 33. So number 3 was only for a representative career and number 33 for a club career.
4. How did you live that Érd broke up?
I was very sad when it happened to Érd, I was very happy there and my wish was to end my career there… but unfortunately everything changed after that. I hope they will return on top again one day.
5. After the Érd, why did you choose the Rostov?
I wanted to stay in Hungary, but we found out about the situation with Érd very late, and at that moment most of the clubs had already signed with the players in Hungary. So I had a couple of other options that were outside of Hungary and Rostov was the best option. I got one big experience in my career. Rostov is one of the best clubs in the world and I am glad that I had the opportunity to play for them.
6. If you could say anyone in the world, who would you like to play with and why?
I always wanted to play with Anna Vjahireva and that wish came true.
7. Is there goalkeeper you don't like or didn't like to play against?
I don’t have a goalkeeper I don’t like, but there are a couple of them to whom I have a hard time scoring goals.
8. What do you like to do in your free time? What are your hobbies?
I use all my free time to be with my daughter and husband. We mostly go for walks and to the playground.
9. What do you want to do at the end of your career?
I still haven’t decided what exactly I want to do when I finish my career. I would like to stay in sports. I have a couple of ideas, but it’s too early to think about it.
