Careers #23 - Silje Margaretha Solberg
In the 3rd part of the series presenting the career of the women handball players of Győri Audi ETO KC, and in the 23rd part of the whole series, we present the story of the goalkeeper of the Norwegian national team, Silje Margaretha Solberg.
Her first club was Helset IF. In 2007 she chose Stabaek, where she made her debut in the Norwegian top flight and played together with his twin sister Sanna. She won the 2010 World Junior Championship with the Norwegian national team. She made her senior debut on 27 March 2011 against Russia, and in 2014 she moved to Team Tvis Holsetbro in Denmark, where she won the EHF Cup in 2015 and the KEK in 2016. After an injury to Kari Aalvik Grimsbö at the 2014 European Championships, she became the national team's number one goalkeeper and was also selected for the All Star team. In 2016, she moved to Issy Paris and in 2018 she signed a contract in Hungary and became goalkeeper of Siófok KC. In 2019, she won the EHF Cup and the championship bronze medal with the Balaton-based club. In 2020, she moved from the Balaton to the Rába and joined Audi ETO. In 2021, she won Olympic bronze and World Championship gold medals. She has won the World Championship twice (2015; 2021) and the European Championship three times (2014; 2016; 2020). With Győr, she won one league and one Hungarian Cup gold medal and one silver and one bronze medal in the Champions League.
